Alexandre Nobre of Portugal dominated today at the 9th International Triathlon in Havana, Cuba. He finished with a time of 1 hour, 50 minutes, and 23 seconds and was followed closely by his friend and compatriot, Manuel Arraiaolos.
The event began today with the 1500 meter swimming race which took place in Hemingway Marina to the west of the capital.
It was here that Nobre and Arraiolos began to break away, continuing to gain ground as the group entered the 40-kilometer bicycle portion of the race. Competitors dashed down the city's emblematic Malecon which winds along the coast of the capital city.
But it wasn't until the final footrace that the two Portuguese competitors really took off.
